St. John’s Antigua, June 24, 2022. The Statistics Division under the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance releases the International Merchandise Trade Bulletin for the Third Quarter 2021.
In the third quarter of 2021, Antigua and Barbuda total imports were valued at EC$ 393.1 million, an increase of 26.7% when compared to EC$ 310.2 million for the same period in 2020 according to figures compiled by the Statistics Division.
This was largely due to increase in imports of Minerals fuels, lubricants and related materials 149.1%, Food and live animals 19.8%, Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material 18.3% and Beverages and Tobacco 72.6%.
Total exports increased by 97.7% to EC$ 10.8 million during the period July to September 2021 when compared to EC$ 5.4 million for the same period in 2020.
The overall increase in imports from Antigua and Barbuda top ten partner was driven by United States of America 17.8%, Dominican Republic 154.1%, Netherlands 129.1% and Trinidad and Tobago 24.1%.
Imports from CARICOM countries during the third quarter of 2021 were valued at EC$ 37.5 million, an increase of 13.8% when compared to EC$ 32.9 million for the same period in 2020.
Total exports to CARICOM countries increase by 58.5% to EC $2.9 million, when compared to EC $1.8 million for the same period in 2020.
