External Sector Statistics

External Sector Statistics comprise of Balance of Payments, International Investment Position, and Trade in Services Statistics. Balance of Payments (BOP) is a record of all transactions in Antigua and Barbuda and the rest of the world while the international investment position (IIP) acts like the country’s financial snapshot, indicating the net position as a creditor or debtor, and trade in services (TIS) recognizes the growing importance in the global economy like tourism, finance, and technology consulting  undertaken by residents over a period of time, usually one year. These estimates are compiled in line with agreed international standards set out in the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual Sixth edition (BPM6).
